The reason remains unknown, but the new Samsung I550 looks strangely familiar to Sony Ericsson designs.
This new model was recently released in Eastern Europe, and probably is the first to use Symbian OS and incorporated GPS. Thus, Samsung SGH-I550 is equipped with and S60 Browser 3.1 which permits a simultaneously use of more applications.
Coming with 115 x 53 x 13.8 mm dimensions and 109 grams weigh, this model presents a 2.6’’ TFT 240x 320 pixels display, which is pretty generous. As photo features it has a 3.2 mega pixel camera capable of recording or viewing MPEG4, H.263 and Real One multimedia files. Music players are also permitted, and can play such files like mp3, AAC, AAC plus, e-AAC plus and WMA, and of course it can be used to listen to radio.
Internet browsing and email can be used through HSDPA enabling a download speed of 3.6 Mbps. File transfers may be accomplished via Bluetooth A2DP and USB 2.0 support.
Storing data is limited to 150 MB which permits using external memory of microSD type. In addition the I550 has hands-free capabilities, Voice Memo and Voice Mail. It can stay alive for 3 hours in 2G and 2.6 in 3G with a stand-by for 160 hours in 2G and 140 hours in 3G.
Its weak point is probably the design. Either of lack of inspiration or out of coincidence, this model looks like a Sony Ericsson as you can
