The Sony Ericsson C905 is Sony Ericsson's answer to other 8MP camera phones on the rise nowadays. Released in Q4 2008, the flashy slider has an attractive design and is part of Sony Ericsson's range of Cyber-Shot phones. Come let us review the Sony Ericsson C905 to find out whether it matches the price tag.

Look, Design, Feel (/10)

The Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-Shot is admirable for one aspect - the sleek design of the feature-heavy phone. The slider features a sturdy spring-action, which seems firm and precise in feedback. Overall, the construction of the C905 is uncompromising for such an expensive camera-phone. The Sony Ericsson C905 weighs 136 grams, giving it substantial mass for comfortable handling. As seen from behind, the phone has the looks of a Cyber-Shot camera with a hood. Sony Ericsson has made the C905 available in Night Black, Ice Silver, and Copper Gold colors.

Features (/10)

The Sony Ericsson C905 comes with an M2 slot and is bundled with a 2GB card. The M2 slot can take cards up to 16 GB in size and the Sony Ericsson C905 already has 160 MB of internal memory. The Sony Ericsson C905 comes with the Netfront browser and an RSS Reader. The phone has full messaging features to send Text, MMS, E-Mail messages and for Instant Messaging. One specialty of the 8MP camera phone is that it also has a GPS module and automatic geo-tagging feature for images captured on the phone. Other features include A-GPS, Blogging and Picture Editor applications. The Sony Ericsson C905 comes with an accelerometer sensor, and the screen has an auto-rotate feature which is nice. There's SE's navigation software which is not full-featured but is okay.

The true selling point of the Sony Ericsson C905 is the 8 Megapixel Camera with Xenon Flash. Like a full featured Cyber-Shot camera, the Sony Ericsson C905 mobile phone also has Image stabilization and Face detection features. The 8MP camera means taking images with a resolution up to 3264x2448 pixels. Video can be captured at QVGA 30fps. There's support for playback of audio and video with an MP3/AAC/MPEG4 player. Also present on the Sony Ericsson C905 is an FM-radio with RDS. There's no VGA quality video recording, which is a major drawback to the Sony Ericsson C905. The Sony Ericsson C905 supports TV-out through the ITC-60 cable. You can also output wirelessly to TVs / Displays connected to WLANs via DLNA.

Connectivity (/10)

The Sony Ericsson C905 has generous connectivity options. It supports Quadband GSM with EDGE Class 10 data connections. It also supports UMTS/HSDPA on the 2100 MHz band. There's stereo bluetooth (Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR and A2DP) and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/DLNA support. There's also PictBridge for image printing and USB 2.0 support on the Sony Ericsson C905.

Performance (/10)

This Sony Ericsson has been fitted with a BST-38 Li-Po battery with 930 mAH capacity. Which translates into a 9-hour GSM / 4-hour UMTS talktime. The standby time is over 360 hours.

Value for Money (/10)

The Sony Ericsson C905 is a costly phone without doubt, however it has the potential to replace your Camera. What's more, it's also sleek and an object of desire. The value for money is definitely there; however, we wish it was cheaper or had more features to justify the price tag of the Sony Ericsson C905.
