Vodafone has just launched its new environment friendly SIM packs. The idea is to reduce the volume of plastic disposal in Qatar and Vodafone’s carbon footprint.
The newly design SIM card pack will not use plastic, instead they will be made out of polypropylene, a recyclable material. The cardboard piece that holds the SIM in place has been substituted with recycled paper. This makes the entire pack 100 percent environmentally-friendly.
“At Vodafone Qatar we are always trying to develop products that respect the environment and which aim to make Qatar a greener country that will with time and commitment make a world of difference for all the people in Qatar,” said Phil Worsley, Head of Operations at Vodafone Qatar for The Peninsula Qatar.
The new SIM packs are just one of many steps taken by Vodafone to become more “green”. In September 2009, Vodafone has produced biodegradable scratch cards and in February this year, the company has launched its first Mobile recycling programme in all its retail stores.
“We hope this will inspire many other companies and individuals in Qatar to take steps to protect the environment in Qatar,” Phil Worsley added.
