SanDisk's 64GB iNAND flash memory doubles storage capacity Sheetal Thakre | , 1:45 p.m. Feb. 17, 2010 2010-02-17

With the ever growing technology, the need for more storage becomes indispensable. And it really feels good and useful when someone does gives a damn thought to it, to keep pace with the ever-increasing technological introductions.

SanDisk has come forward with one such thing where they are making their efforts in the mobile space. For this, they have announced its most recent MLC NAND chip which has four times the capacity of its 16GB modules that were made available around two years ago.

It incorporates the 64GB 32nm silicon flash drive which is somewhat similar to its earlier corresponding item that was found in the X3 flash technology. But with modernization in flash management, the technique of each cell to hold three bits can be used for boot, system code, and mass storage functions as well.

The work is still in progress where a lot of things need to be done where chances are that it will be exclusively planned for all of the highly developed smart phones that are available.

With this, the day is not far where we will actually see a high capacity and reliable storage in a power-efficient package to support the high-tech cell phones that keep coming up.
