Next month Indonesia
will get to witness the launch of five new affordable phones by Nokia along
with the Nokia Life Tools application. Nokia 1280, Nokia 1616, Nokia 1800,
Nokia 2220 slide, and Nokia 2690 will be available globally at the start of the
coming year.
The cheapest of them all at 20 Euros, 24 Euros, 26 Euros, Nokia
1280, Nokia 1616 and Nokia 1800 have been designed keeping in mind the requirements
in remote areas and come with a large keypad, FM radio, prepaid tracker,
flashlight, anti-scratch cover and dust-resistant keymat, among other features.
Its long battery life of 22 days stand-by time is essential in regions where
electricity is inadequate.
Nokia 2220 slide and Nokia 2690, which will be available at
45 Euros and 54 Euros respectively, include email support via Ovi mail, FM
radio, VGA camera, GPRS and MMS support, phone books for up to 1,000 contacts,
and Bluetooth.
Nokia Life Tools (included in all handsets) will be
available across Indonesia
from December 2009 with the initial launch of Agriculture service in Java and Sumatra and Education and Entertainment services
available nation-wide. The service is aimed at consumers in small towns and
rural areas providing a range of livelihood and life-improvement services on
their mobile phones.
