The new Android-powered T-Mobile Sidekick 4G officially announced Saveri | , 9:43 a.m. March 15, 2011 2011-03-15

Sidekick is back with a bang! That's all we can say, particularly when America's favourite was discontinued thanks to the 'data loss' fiasco. However, looks like T-Mobile has learnt its lesson by abandoning the 'Danger' service in its new relaunched Android avatar of the Sidekick.

Although the Samsung-sourced Sidekick will lack the swivel display in the 4G version, it will still retain the original, yet pioneering pop-tilt mechanism, that's very much a part of Sidekick's personality.

The new face of Sidekick introduces many changes, notably the 3.5-inch WVGA touchscreen, Android 2.2 OS, 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 3-megapixel camera, and 4G internet speeds. Also, as a part of the Samsung family, it includes the company's trademark features - Samsung Media Hub, Qik video calling, DriveSmart texting, Sidekick Group Text and Cloud Text.

It is expected that the classic Sidekick 4G will erase the unpleasant memories from the past and once again 'upgrade' to the good experiences that T-Mobile customers have appreciated.

Pricing and availability of the T-mobile Sidekick 4G was unavailable, but Sidekick loyalists shouldn't have to wait for long, before they can lay their hands on a "pearl magenta" or "matte black" version of the model.
