Nokia has had a few unsuccessful attempts to create a mobile gaming platform. Initially it created a device with a mind on this. But it was simply no perfected to serve as a mobile gaming device. Thus Nokia created N-Gage – users can get and play the latest mobile games on their mobile phones from the official Nokia N-Gage website and if they want to play with other users, N-Gage has also a multiplayer option.

According to Nokia officials, the N-Gage will be installed on not less than 50 million mobile phones by Christmas. This is a very brave statement but it does not lack success. Today, millions of users already N-Gage and the platform is renowned worldwide. Chances to actually get 50 million mobile phones to run N-Gage are pretty high.

The number represents actual number of people who have downloaded the application and it also covers the number of handsets expected to be released with it preloaded. To bring chances more close to reality, Nokia says there will be about 30 new N-Gage games available by the end of the year.

The N-Gage Software Development Kit says it will support hardware acceleration. In any case, N-Gage already has a huge success and if the number of users reaches 50 million it won’t be a real surprise. Probably, if we count today’s users we’d go to millions.
