Rumors have been circulating over the web regarding a possible release of an LG handset with a 12 megapixel camera. The rumors turned out to be true as recently LG has officially announced the future release of an LG 12 megapixel camera phone.

As you probably know, LG is not the first mobile phone manufacturer to produce a 12 megapixel camera. Sony Ericsson has already announced its intention to create a twelve megapixel camera phone at Mobile World Congress in February.

Anyway, the 12 megapixel camera phone forged by Sony Ericsson is named Idou and is set for release on October. However, the same thing cannot be said about the upcoming LG high caliber camera phone. The company did not specify the handset’s name but said that it will be release by the end of 2009.

I find the 12 megapixel camera phones absolutely amazing. It is fascinating how manufacturers manage to implement such features to their handsets. However, there is small problem. The human eye cannot detect the photo quality made by a 12 megapixel camera. The greatest quality the human eye can percept is probably a photo taken with a 10 megapixel camera.

This might make the high caliber phone pretty useless as if you have a 10 megapixel camera is probably sufficient. Anyway, the phones are very promising and we shall see what they are made of as soon as additional information is available.
