The LG Secret, also known as LG KF750, is a classy phone with conventional good looks. We look under the hood to see whether the insides are as promising as the outer appearance and whether the 'secret' is as mysteriously promising as it sounds.

Look, Design, Feel (/10)

Glossy and black, with polished faux leather embellishments, silver buttons and a large screen. There isn't much that could go wrong with a phone looks-wise that encompassed all these elements, and the LG Secret is no exception. The phone is a slider, where the screen moves up to reveal the numeric keypad below. The keypad is also finished with class, so the phone does very well in the appearance department.

Features (/10)

There are quite a few features in this slim device, with extensive camera capabilities. The phone has a 5 megapixel camera and a dedicated button to access it. There is a LED flash and an autofocus option as well. A small secondary camera resides on the front, presumably for video conferencing, although its specifications are nowhere in the same league as the camera at the back. Surprisingly the user has the ability to edit videos on the phone itself, a rather unusual for phones as they go.

There is a pre-loaded Google compatibility package with support for Gmail, YouTube and other popular Google products.

One side of the phone has all the slots and jacks hidden under a discreet flap. Here the user will find the audio jack, a microSD card slot which can process up to 4 GB cards, and the charging port.

The screen is large, however it seems to end quite a bit short of the buttons. Except for a large silver button there seems to be a black wasted space. However the space hasn't been wasted at all; this is where the phone has its touch screen controls, which light up when the phone is active.

Connectivity (/10)

The Secret supports HSDPA and quad-band GSM, making the phone relevant right now even though it was released in the middle of 2008.

The phone has GPRS and EDGE support, with Bluetooth. However, it does not have WLAN support, nor does it have an infrared port. There is a micro USB port as well, placed at the bottom of the phone.

Performance (/10)

The battery life should potentially last for 4 days with talktime, and around 11 days on standby mode. The phone has an internal memory of 100 MB, fairly considerable when the release date is taken into account.

Value for Money (/10)

The phone is relatively inexpensive, and it is good value for money. Most of the phones recently released have little or no improvement on these specifications except for a fully functional touch screen. The LG Secret is a good looking phone with a few excellent features, and is ideal for someone looking for a technologically sound phone without springing for glitz and glamour.
