hi
I have a miniUSB cable for Nokia 3110, but am not able to connect it to my PC for data transfer.. do I have to download any software?

I suppose with the miniUSB you have got a CD also for the PC synchronisation.
Just downlaod that CD. I think that will be enough

have you purchased a original one? I had this problem with duplicate cables they didn't worked. But i think if its a mini cable then it should not give any problems. try to re-install PC suite and check the data transfer is smooth or not..
